Are there age restrictions for renting or operating a side-by-side?

You must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age to rent and operate our side-by-sides. Passengers under the age of eighteen (18) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and may not operate the vehicles.

How tall should child passengers be?

Children must be at least 50 inches tall to participate as a side-by-side passenger. They must be able to wear the seatbelt securely fastened, grasp the handholds with feet firmly planted on the ground or footrest, and have their back fully against the seat backrest.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require a minimum of forty-eight (48) hours advance notice of cancellation in order to receive a full refund on your rental. We do not issue refunds for poor trail conditions, early returns on rentals, or cancellation due to weather or other unforeseeable circumstances.

Do you provide safety gear and training?

Your rental of snowmobiles and side-by-sides includes DOT approved helmets for each vehicle occupant. We will provide you with a hands-on vehicle orientation and a safe operating briefing. Side-by-side rentals also include DOT approved goggles for all vehicle occupants and have roll cages, seat belts, and Polaris Ride Command.

What if I break down or need help on the trail?

If you need to be rescued or towed (unless for mechanical reasons outside of your control), a rescue fee of $100 per hour will be charged. Refunds will not be given for any time remaining on the term of the rental at the time of rescue. If company has to come to rescue or tow the vehicle you rented, you forfeit the remainder of the rental time. If you roll the vehicle, you forfeit the remainder of the rental time. There will be a $150 fee charge if you are caught in our vehicles off of marked trails, per the GPS in every unit.

What if I’m late returning the rental?

It is your responsibility to know what time the rentals are due to be returned. Rentals returned thirty (30) minutes past the time at which they are due will be charged an additional full-day rental fee.

What if I need to or want to return the vehicle before the rental period is over? Can I get a refund or credit?

You are welcome to return the rental early for whatever reason. Bigfoot Epic Adventures does not offer any refunds or credit for returning before your reserved rental period is over.

Can I leave the state of Michigan with the rental equipment?

No. All rental vehicles and equipment must remain within the state of Michigan. At no time may the vehicle be transported to or operate on Drummond Island; Drummond Island is a strictly prohibited destination for the vehicle.

What is your policy on alcohol, marijuana, and other substance use?

Operating or riding in the rental vehicle under the influence of any mind-altering substance is strictly prohibited. This includes all alcohol, drugs, intoxicants, narcotics, prescription medicines, or any other substance, whether legal or illegal under state or federal law, which could in any way impair your ability to operate or ride in the vehicle.

Am I responsible for damage to the vehicles?

In the event a vehicle is damaged during your rental period, you will be responsible for covering the entirety of the damage and repair costs. The charges will be taken out of your Security Deposit first, and then you will be responsible for paying any remaining charges that are above and beyond the amount of the Security Deposit.

Do I have to return the vehicle with a full tank of gas?

The vehicle will be provided to you with a full tank of gas. You are responsible for covering the cost of the fuel if required during your rental period. You do not need to return the vehicle with a full tank of gas.

What do I need to bring with me?

The most important thing to bring with you for your reservation is a valid driver's license for each driver. If you are unable to present your driver’s license, you will not be permitted to operate the vehicle and may be required to forfeit your rental fee.

You will also need a credit card for processing the security deposits. Make sure you have sufficient credit available for the $1500 per side-by-side security deposit. We recommend notifying your credit card issuer of the upcoming security deposit hold to avoid issues with your credit card that may cause a delay.

Closed-toed shoes are required for both drivers and passengers. Other items you may want to consider bringing include mobile phone & charger, trail maps, compass or GPS, extra layers of clothes, cash and credit cards (not all area businesses accept credit cards), and a backpack if needed to carry extra items (there is minimal storage on the vehicles).
