Are there age restrictions for renting or operating a snowmobile or side-by-side?

You must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age to rent and operate our snowmobiles or side-by-sides. Passengers under the age of eighteen (18) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and may not operate the vehicles.

How tall should child passengers be?

Children must be at least 50 inches tall to participate as a side-by-side passenger. They must be able to wear the seatbelt securely fastened, grasp the handholds with feet firmly planted on the ground or footrest, and have their back fully against the seat backrest.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require a minimum of forty-eight (48) hours advance notice of cancellation in order to receive a full refund on your rental. We do not issue refunds for poor trail conditions, early returns on rentals, or cancellation due to weather or other unforeseeable circumstances.

Do you provide safety gear and training?

Your rental of snowmobiles and side-by-sides includes DOT approved helmets for each vehicle occupant. We will provide you with a hands-on vehicle orientation and a safe operating briefing. Side-by-side rentals also include DOT approved goggles for all vehicle occupants and have roll cages, seat belts, and Polaris Ride Command.

What if I break down or need help on the trail?

If you need to be rescued or towed (unless for mechanical reasons outside of your control), a rescue fee of $100 per hour will be charged. Refunds will not be given for any time remaining on the term of the rental at the time of rescue.

What if I’m late returning the rental?

It is your responsibility to know what time the rentals are due to be returned. Rentals returned thirty (30) minutes past the time at which they are due will be charged an additional full-day rental fee.

What if I need to or want to return the vehicle before the rental period is over? Can I get a refund or credit?

You are welcome to return the rental early for whatever reason. Bigfoot Epic Adventures does not offer any refunds or credit for returning before your reserved rental period is over.

What if the weather doesn't cooperate or there isn’t enough snow for snowmobiling?

We reserve the right to cancel a reservation due to poor trail conditions or if the trails are not good enough for riding due to the lack of snow. In the event we cancel your reservation for this reason, a full refund will be returned to you for the reservation. We will try to let you know as soon as possible if this happens.

Can I leave the state of Michigan with the rental equipment?

No. All rental vehicles and equipment must remain within the state of Michigan.

What is your policy on alcohol, marijuana, and other substance use?

Operating or riding in the rental vehicle under the influence of any mind-altering substance is strictly prohibited. This includes all alcohol, drugs, intoxicants, narcotics, prescription medicines, or any other substance, whether legal or illegal under state or federal law, which could in any way impair your ability to operate or ride in the vehicle.

Am I responsible for damage to the vehicles?

In the event a vehicle is damaged during your rental period, you will be responsible for covering the entirety of the damage and repair costs. The charges will be taken out of your Security Deposit first, and then you will be responsible for paying any remaining charges that are above and beyond the amount of the Security Deposit.

We do offer Damage Rental Protection, that can be added to your rental. For an additional $50 per vehicle rented, the first $1,000 of damage and repair costs will be waived. You will be responsible for any additional damage charges that are above and beyond the $1,000 Damage Rental Protection coverage.

Do I have to return the vehicle with a full tank of gas?

The vehicle will be provided to you with a full tank of gas. You are responsible for covering the cost of the fuel if required during your rental period. You do not need to return the vehicle with a full tank of gas.

What should I wear for snowmobiling?
  • Clothing should be comfortable and not too tight. Check the weather forecast before your reservation and dress for the coldest weather expected.
  • A warm, waterproof winter jacket and snow bibs.
  • Your hands should be protected by a pair of snowmobile gloves or mitts that have sufficient insulation and allow the use of your thumbs and fingers for operation of controls.
  • Warm socks and winter boots with rubber bottoms.
  • HJC brand (DOT approved) helmets are included with your rental for safety and comfort. They provide both warmth and reduce injury.
  • A balaclava (facemask) or stocking type cap should be carried for when your helmet is removed.
  • Do not wear a long scarf or loose apparel that could get caught in moving parts.
What do I need to bring with me?

The most important thing to bring with you for your reservation is a valid driver's license for each driver. If you are unable to present your driver’s license, you will not be permitted to operate the vehicle and may be required to forfeit your rental fee.

You will also need a credit card for processing the security deposits. Make sure you have sufficient credit available for the $750 per snowmobile or $1500 per side-by-side security deposit. We recommend notifying your credit card issuer of the upcoming security deposit hold to avoid issues with your credit card that may cause a delay.

Closed-toed shoes are required for both drivers and passengers. Other items you may want to consider bringing include mobile phone & charger, trail maps, compass or GPS, extra layers of clothes, cash and credit cards (not all area businesses accept credit cards), and a backpack if needed to carry extra items (there is minimal storage on the vehicles).
